Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Can I use Skelly's Dog with external timers?

A: Yes, Skelly's Dog is compatible with external timers and preserves its settings.

Q: Can I interchange parts between Skelly's Sitting Dog and 7 ft. Skelly's Dog?

A: At this time the 1.5A Outdoor Adapter is the only interchangeable part.

Q: Can I connect Skelly Chest Light Kit to Skelly's Sitting Dog?

A: Unfortunately, the Skelly Chest Light Kit isn't compatible with Skelly's Sitting Dog.

Q: What batteries do I need? Can I use batteries and adapter at the same time?

A: Skelly's Sitting Dog can be powered either by an adapter or batteries.

  • If you use the adapter while the batteries are still in, the power will come from the adapter.
  • However, we recommend removing the batteries when using the adapter for optimal performance.
  • You'll need 4 x 1.5V C batteries to power the dog.

Q: Skelly's Sitting Dog eyes are not turning on. What can I do?

A: Let's troubleshoot it together!

Step 1: Check the control box (Part K) — do you see a red light?

If not:

  • Try a different adapter and/or fresh batteries.
  • Skelly's Sitting Dog requires a 1.5A Outdoor adapter or 4 x 1.5V batteries.

If yes:

  • That means power, adapter, and control box are working correctly.

Next, connect the head (Part M) directly to the spine and control box (Part K) and power it on.

If the eyes still don't light up:

  • It's likely an issue with the head — consider replacing the eye kit.

If the eyes do light up:

  • Great! Now check all electrical connections throughout the body (see steps 2.3, 3.1, 3.2 in the instructions).

The eye lights connect through the following parts:

  • Spine and Control Box (K)
  • Ribcage (F)
  • Neck (L)

If the eyes stop working at any of these points, that part may need to be replaced.

Example: If the eyes work with the control box and spine, but stop at the ribcage — the ribcage may be the issue.
